I became involved with cats in December 2002 when a small gray kitten showed up at my sister's farm in the dead of winter. The kitten was sick and I took him home. Well the rest as they say is history. My husband named him Sputter because he makes noises like an old Harley Davidson motorcycle sputtering back through the carburetor. I still have Sputter, my gray wonder, and I have found my calling...helping those precious animals that do not have a voice and need my help. He is my inspiration. A note: Sputter was diagnosed with FIV as a kitten and is now 7 years old, proof that FIV cats can live long, healthy lives.
In November 2007, Nancy Allen, Patty Brock and I co-founded
Tri-County Trap-Neuter-Return. This is an initiative of the Seeds of Hope Ministry, a 501(c)3 organization. Tri-County TNR's mission is to help control the feral and free-roaming cat overpopulation through a low-cost community program of trap, neuter, return, the only proven method which permanently and humanely reduces feral and stray cat populations. There is a great need for this service. To learn more about the issues of feral cats, visit
